Helpful Sites
According to Selling With Technology CEO Patricia Berry, more than four out of five seniors have internet access. In an average week, Berry says, these seniors will spend nine hours online. We thought a great way to provide value to you would be to help you get more out of the hours you spend exploring the internet. We have assembled a list of Web sites you may find valuable.
The consumer sites listed below are more "bridges" then "destinations." Most will present you with a listing of links, each addressing a topic of interest to seniors. We make no recommendations of any products or services featured on any of the sites listed.
- www.ssa.gov -is your single source Web site for answers to all of their questions about Social Security.
- www.firstgov.org -is your gateway to information about virtually any services offered by the U.S. government, including Medicare, Social Security and many more. Seniors will love this easy-to-navigate format.
- www.va.gov -it is the home of the Veterans Affairs Department. If you (or your spouse) served our country, this site is well worth a visit.
- www.benefitscheckup.org -is hosted by the National Council on the Aging. It is a 50-state online service that provides free, confidential public benefit screening for seniors.
- www.elderweb.com -is a virtual library of resources with a focus on senior needs.
- www.caregiving-solutions.com -focuses on Alzheimer's Disease, which struck the father of the site's developer. Much of the site's home page is an advertisement for "Alzheimer Solutions," the site developer's book. But the links listed on the left-hand margin offer a lot of valuable information about the disease and how to cope with it.
